Gym Etiquette for the Training Floor

The Ignite Athletic Club culture is a high-performance ecosystem defined by situational awareness and mutual respect for the work being done. It is the baseline of discipline required to maintain a professional training environment where the focus remains entirely on the load.

The Ignite Standard

The atmosphere at Ignite Athletic Club isn't an accident, it’s an intentional asset. We provide a high-performance ecosystem, but the culture is maintained by the people in it. To keep this the premier training ground in the city, every member must operate with a level of situational awareness that respects the work being done around them.

If you’re here, you’re here to work. This isn't a list of "rules", it’s the baseline for a professional training environment.

The Professional Standard: Equipment

Treat the gym floor with the same respect you’d give your own home. Performance creates sweat, but leaving it behind creates a mess. Use the provided disinfectant to wipe down your station immediately after use.

We train hard, but we don't abuse the gear. Controlled drops on platforms are acceptable, but ghost-loading or dropping dumbbells from height is beneath the standard of this club.

  • Clear the Deck: When you finish a lift, strip the bar and return every plate, dumbbell, and kettlebell to its home. Leaving your station loaded isn't a sign of a heavy lift; it’s a sign of a lack of discipline.
  • Wipe the Slate: Use the provided disinfectant to wipe down your station immediately after use.
  • Respect the Iron: Controlled drops on platforms are acceptable; ghost-loading or dropping dumbbells from height is not.

Situational Awareness: Space and Flow

In a high-intensity environment, being oblivious to your surroundings is a safety hazard. Never walk directly in front of someone mid-set, especially in front of a mirror, as they are using that visual feedback for technical precision. Keep the perimeter clear by storing bags and extra gear in the cubbies.

A cluttered floor is a dangerous floor.

  • Work In, Don't Camp: If you’re resting between sets on a high-demand piece of equipment, allow others to work in. If someone asks, be professional and say yes.
  • Line of Sight: Be mindful of mirrors. They aren't for vanity; they're for technical feedback. Don't break someone's focus mid-set.

Digital Discipline and Focus

We are a results-driven athletic club. Everything we do should support the collective focus of the room. Your phone is a tool for tracking data or music, not for scrolling. If you need to take a call, take it to the lobby. Keep your audio at a level where it isn't competing with the house speakers.

  • Protect the Energy: You don't have to be a cheerleader, but you should contribute to the "engine room" energy. If someone is hitting a PR, give them the space and the respect that effort deserves.

The Ignite Way

We lead by example. We work harder, we clean up better, and we respect the space more than any other club in the city. If you see a plate left out, rack it. If you see a mess, clear it.

Own the standard. See you on the training floor.
